A Newsletter About Other Newsletters

As I am writing this, I'm watching the season two finale of The Newsreader, an Australian show starring sweet angel babies Sam Reid and Anna Torv, that airs criminally delayed here on AMC+. It's set in the '80s, which I normally don't have the taste for, but it's so good. I was first introduced to Sam Reid via Interview With The Vampire, also on AMC+, which is just the gayest and greatest show ever. He's great in this, too, but Anna Torv really drives it home. I can't wait for the third season, which I'm sure we'll get in 20 years.
Anyway, I thought for today's Okay, Obsessed, I would tell you about all the other newsletters I read.
π Kara's Three Things
My favorite writing in the world is Kara Brown's Fancy Pasta Bitch, which she has since scrubbed from the internet. I'm so glad she launched her newsletter this year, and I take all of her recommendations as necessary and urgent.
π Whatever Nevermind
I met Fawnia at Fashionista, and now sheβs 99% of my social calendar and the person on this planet I want to eat tinned fish with the most. I wanted to be her friend so bad because I was obsessed with her writing, so itβs no surprise that her most recent venture, Whatever Nevermind, with Cheryl, is characteristically full of bangers. The one on Duster (RIP) is an absolute must-read.
π Clotheshorse
I also met Maura at Fashionista, and if I had $1 for every time she made me cry, laugh, or just feel so incredibly goddamn seen, I could have retired a while ago. I also loved her writing before I loved her as a person, and Clotheshorse is such a great read every week. My most recent favorite is this particularly good roundup of baseball hats.
I fell in love with Bolu on Twitter a million years ago, and the surprise Juice drops she gives us are always my favorite things to hit my inbox.
π At Heart PanaderΓa
I met Teresa on Twitter a million years ago as well, and while I have yet to have the privilege to eat her incredible-looking food, I will gladly read everything she has to say about it. She has both a way with ingredients and words that I highly appreciate.
π Mounting by Harron Walker
Harron Walker is just one of those writers whom I will follow wherever they go. I recently started her essay collection, which she reads herself for the audiobook, really perfecting the vibe. She's just so goddamn cool.
π yes i was high when i wrote this
First of all, same. Second of all, I just love the way Alyson thinks about things. She also greatly appreciates a fun beverage, which is something I take very seriously.
π The Quiet Part
I was introduced to Kay Poyer via TikTok, and I think people who are exceptionally good at both video and the written word are very special, if not deified. I love literally everything that comes out of her mouth.
π That Deep
I learn so, so much from Nia Γla, who I also discovered via TikTok. She's constantly making me think about my politics, praxis, and how to think about the world and community.
Oops, it's all women! Go figure. Love you.
